Software Engineer
Build the wearable infrastructure behind hundreds of training and longevity apps. For engineers who care about sport and health.
Stridee is the platform for fitness and wellness communities — connecting people to running clubs, gyms, yoga studios, races, and sports communities in one place. Behind that is a Rust API, a family of Next.js web apps, native iOS and Android apps, and integrations with the devices people actually train with — Garmin, COROS, Polar, Wahoo and more.
Stridee Platform is the infrastructure underneath it: one API for wearable data. It has delivered more than 2 million workouts, nights of sleep and recovery records, and hundreds of training and longevity apps rely on it to reach their users' watches and bike computers. A developer connects once; their users consent on a screen we host; and the data arrives at their endpoint, normalized across every provider. We also send structured workouts back the other way, onto the athlete's device.
We're a small team and we want to stay one. We're looking for a software engineer who cares about sport, health and living well for a long time, and who wants to build the tools that help other people do the same.
Start date: January 2027.
What You'll Do
Build across the stack
- Ship features end to end — from a Postgres migration and a Rust endpoint to the screen someone opens before their morning run
- Work across the web apps (Next.js, TypeScript) and the API (Rust), and reach into the iOS and Android apps when a feature needs it
- Own what you ship: design it, build it, deploy it, watch it in production, fix it
Build Stridee Platform
- Work on the wearable infrastructure other companies build their products on — provider integrations, data normalization, webhooks, the developer console and docs
- Keep it reliable at volume: when a night of sleep or a long run is late or wrong, hundreds of apps downstream feel it
- Design APIs that other engineers enjoy using
Make training and health data useful
- Work with workout, sleep, recovery and device data and turn it into something an athlete or a coach can act on
- Build the products clubs, gyms and event organisers run their communities on — memberships, events, payments, training plans
Work with LLMs, properly
- Use LLMs and coding agents as an everyday part of how you design, write, review and debug software
- Help build the AI-powered parts of the product itself
- Know when the model is wrong, and care about the quality of what goes out under your name
Who You Are
- A software engineer with real experience shipping and running production software
- Genuinely into sport, fitness or longevity — running, cycling, lifting, swimming, climbing, sleep and recovery, whatever your thing is. You'll be building for people like you
- You learned to build software before LLMs, and you've since fully adopted them. You know what good code looks like without a model's help, which is exactly why you can direct one, catch it when it's wrong, and move much faster with it
- Comfortable across the stack, and happy to pick up a language or a platform you haven't used before
- Product-minded — you care about why something is being built, not only how
- Independent. You can take a loosely defined problem and bring it to done in a remote team
- Clear in writing; most of our work happens asynchronously
Nice to have: Rust, TypeScript and React/Next.js, Swift or Kotlin, Postgres, experience with wearables or training data (FIT files, Garmin, Strava), a background coaching or competing, something you've built for your own training
What We Offer
- Remote-first — work from wherever you do your best work
- Competitive salary
- Equity — stock options, so you own part of what you build
- Direct access to founders and real influence over the product and the technical direction
- A small team, little process, and a lot of ownership
- A product you'll use yourself
To apply: send a short note on why this role, what you train for or care about in sport and health, and 2–3 things you've built — links, repos, or a few lines on each. Tell us how you use LLMs in your work. No CV templates.
